Saturday’s Egg Hunt and Picnic Were a Hit With Neighbors

[slideshow_deploy id=’9314′]

On Saturday, May 11, the Barbary Coast Neighborhood Association, led by Julia and Adam Bergman, hosted our annual egg hunt plus a volunteer clean-up of Sydney Walton Park and a community picnic to celebrate the arrival of spring.  A fun time was had by all!

If you attended the event and are not a BCNA member, please join today! Our voice for the neighborhood is only as powerful as our membership support. The more members we have, the more effective BCNA can be.

BCNA has sponsored the egg hunt for the past six years. This year, we expanded the event and invited Supervisor Aaron Peskin and Central Station Police Captain Robert Yick. We would like to thank our invited guests for their time and attention. In addition, we want to thank local business sponsors Safeway, Starbucks, Kara’s Cupcakes, and EQ Office for their generous contributions to the event.

We would also like to thank Sergeant Goldsborough and two officers from the SFPD Central Station who responded to questions about improving safety and security in our neighborhood, which sits between two tourist centers and high crime areas—the Ferry Building and Fisherman’s Wharf. BCNA President Diana Taylor reminded attendees that BCNA has recommended two related funding proposals to address these problems: traffic enforcement at the intersection of Davis/Jackson/Drumm and a dedicated Homeless Outreach Team for our area.

Last but not least, a big thanks to BCNA Board members Adam Bergman, Michele Hennessey, and Bill Hannan as well as volunteers Carol Parlette (founding BCNA Board), Susan Brown, and Jay Folberg for all their help in making this year’s event a success!
