In response to the alarming escalation in xenophobia and bigotry toward the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, the Barbary Coast Neighborhood Association is co-hosting a Public Safety Forum on violence and bystander intervention with the Jackson Square Merchants Association. Our featured speaker will be Central Station Captain Julian Ng of the San Francisco Police Department. Please register to attend and spread the word about this important event!

Urgent! Survey on Embarcadero Enhancement Changes Will Close April 9

The Barbary Coast Neighborhood Association urges members and friends to voice your views on the upcoming changes along the Embarcadero. These changes will directly affect the Barbary Coast neighborhood. Please take the time to complete the Embarcadero Enhancement Project survey by April 9, 2021. It takes 5-10 minutes. The city needs your valuable feedback!

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) and the Port of San Francisco will be making changes along the Embarcadero in the Barbary Coast to improve pedestrian and vehicle safety. The Embarcadero Enhancement Project (EEP) has prioritized the segment from Mission Street to Broadway as Phase 1. Construction will begin in late 2021 and will extend the two-way bikeway and improve pedestrian crossings.

This interactive online survey will replace the usual public forums and community engagement activities due to COVID precautions. SF MTA and Port staff will not be leading public walking tours as we have had in the past.

PLEASE TAKE THE SURVEY SO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD VOICES ARE HEARD!

The first page invites you to review the project goals and design options before taking the survey.

Survey recommendations:

  • Take the survey before it closes on April 9!
  • To Include Comments: Click on the small comment bubble next to the multiple-choice answer options to allow for written comments. There is also a comment button on the bar at the top of the screen to submit General Comments at any point during the survey.
  • Review the EEP timeline and what’s planned for Phase 2 & 3 in SF MTA’s Project Plan.
  • Review the recently implemented 2020 Embarcadero Quick-Build Projects which included the (remember!?) Sansome-Battery-Davis Street changes. Although the survey doesn’t ask you about these changes, you can share your thoughts with BCNA.
