On Saturday, April 15, 2017, the tennis community gathered at the Bay Club at the Gateway to remember Joan McCormick, longtime member of the Club and Friends of Golden Gateway (FOGG).

FOGG supporters and friends can donate to the Summer Kids Camps Scholarship Program in memory of Joan, who greatly contributed to the continued success of the Bay Club at The Gateway. The Scholarship Program enables girls and boys from low income neighborhoods to enjoy a summer of fun in a safe, family friendly environment. Every dollar FOGG raises is matched by the Bay Club. If you have already donated, you can contact FOGG with your request for your donation to be included in Joan’s Scholarship Fund Memorial list. Please send your summer Kids Camp Scholarship Program tax deductible donations to PDF/FOGG, P.O. Box 2294, San Francisco, CA 94126. Write “2017 Joan’s Scholarship Fund Memorial” on the memo line. You can also donate online at FOGG. Click on the “Donate to 2017 Summer Kids Camp” yellow donation button and note that you are donating to Joan’s Scholarship Fund Memorial.

Must See: “Citizen Jane” Opens April 28th at Opera Plaza

On April 28th, Matt Tyrnauer will release his new film, Citizen Jane, a timely and important story about Jane Jacobs, urban activist and author of the classic The Death and Life of Great American Cities. The film tells the story of Jacobs taking on the tyrannical master builder Robert Moses in 1950s and 60s New York City. This overlooked chapter in New York’s history is a beautifully told, inspiring, and historic example of successful social activism in urban development. Jacobs was a galvanizing force in saving cherished New York neighborhoods such as SoHo and Greenwich Village. She was a pioneering community organizer who spoke truth to power. Citizen Jane is produced by Robert Hammond, co-founder of Friends of the High Line, and Corey Reeser and Matt Tyrnauer of Altimeter Films.

The film will be released on April 28th at the Opera Plaza Cinemas in San Francisco. Click here to buy tickets.
