The Barbary Coast Neighborhood Association is hosting an exclusive walking tour for members guided by the Port of San Francisco on Sunday, July 15 at 3:00 PM, followed by a social gathering at Fish & Farm, 424 Clay Street. Learn about earthquake and sea level rise risks facing our waterfront and what the Port is doing to keep the waterfront safe for generations to come. The tour is free and lasts one hour.
San Franciscoâs Seawall was constructed more than a century ago and is the foundation of over three miles of the cityâs waterfront stretching from Fishermanâs Wharf to Mission Creek. The Seawall has served us well, but it is now in need of significant improvements to withstand the next major earthquake and increasing flood risk from sea level rise and climate change. The Port of San Francisco is leading the Seawall Earthquake Safety and Disaster Prevention Program, a citywide effort to create a stronger and more sustainable waterfront by addressing critical safety upgrades along the Embarcadero Seawall.
