When Fleet Week and the Blue Angels return to San Francisco in October, there will be another exciting addition to Fall festivities — the commissioning of the U.S. Navy’s new USS America.

As the Port’s year-long celebration of its 150th anniversary is drawing to a close, the Port’s huge solo project — a new cruise terminal for the city — is moving toward completion and opening for business in the Fall.

The Port Commission must do its part in building the state-of-the-art James R. Herman Cruise Terminal — authorizing financing — and did so at its March 25th meeting. Continue Reading

Port Commission clears way for affordable housing in area

The Port Commission approved one of the milestones leading to the affordable housing development planned by the Port and the City for Seawall Lot 322.1, near Broadway and The Embarcadero, at its March 11 meeting.

A key item on the agenda, it is a Memorandum of Understanding between the Port and the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development.  The MOU has a three-year term, with a one-year extension, and moves the proposal forward. Continue Reading
